Rhys Millen took a dominant win at round six of the 2014 Red Bull Global Rallycross championship, leading home Ken Block by over 1.8 seconds to take a career first Red Bull GRC win and become the fifth different winner this season.
An over night engine change didn't hamper the Kiwi, who after winning heat 1A yesterday, endured a fiery end to his day due to a cam belt failure.
Despite the new engine, Millen didn't hold back, taking a semi final win to secure pole for the final. Austin Dyne held off Nelson Piquet Jr. to win the other.
In a dramatic LCQ, Ken Block and Joni Wiman fought for the win right up to the final turn. Block prevailed, with the pair, as well as Sverre Isachsen and Scott Speed all advancing to the Final.
In the Final, Millen Launched into an early lead, with Block settling into second after getting by Austin Dyne after he suffered a tyre rub.
Further back, panels were bashed and doors rubbed as the rest of the field exchanged positions. In the end Speed ended up in the barrier near the table top jump while Joni Wiman went a fair distance on three wheels as his left rear disintegrated.
Although his straight line advantage saw him make a late charge, Block was unable to catch millen and settled for second. Bucky Lasek claimed his second podium of the year with third, ahead of Patrik Sandell, Sverre Isachsen and Tanner Foust.
Piquet Jr. left Florida with still leading the championship, although he failed to finish on the podium for the first time this season with overheating issues leaving him down in eigth place, behind the wounded Wiman.
In Lites, Mitchell De Jong carried on where he left off by taking another heat win before dominating the final to continue his near perfect season.
After the post race inspection, it was revealed that Millen's car had infact violated a tchnical regulation. As a result, Millen was stripped of 50 championship points. However, because the infringement gave no performance advantage, Millen kept the win.
