2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross Season Review

With seven winners in 12 rounds, the 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross season will go down as one of the most competitive in the series' short history.

Ken Block, Sebastian Eriksson, Patrik Sandell, Nelson Piquet Jr., Joni Wiman and title rivals Scott Speed and Tanner Foust were all victorious in a season which will also be remembered for being the year that Olsbergs MSE and Ford's dominance of the category finally came to an end.

Wiman wins, Speed scoops title in Las Vegas

2014 Red Bull Global Rallycross champion Joni Wiman finally won his maiden Red Bull GRC Supercars final in Las Vegas as Scott Speed won his first championship crown.

Horrendous weather conditions effected the event with much of the field involved in incidents in the early heat races, notably Ken Block - who was looking for his third straight Las Vegas win. He had a heavy wreck in the first heat race, and although he managed to continue in the event, the early shunt appeared to end any hopes of a Vegas hat trick.

Bryan Herta Rally Sport drivers Patrik Sandell and Austin Dyne head to Las Vegas this week looking to conclude what has been a strong first year in the Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship for the team on a high note after being eliminated from title contention last time out in Barbados.

Sandell, who has won more heat races than any other driver this season, currently sits sixth in the points table and still retains an outside chance of moving up to second place, although the Swede admits that the championship table is no longer his top priority.

On Wednesday night the 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross champion will be crowned in Las Vegas, Nevada. While we don't yet know who that will be, we do know for sure that it'll be one of the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team's superstar drivers.

It seems strange to talk about the VARX team having a 'tough' start to the season. After all, Scott Speed took second in Fort Lauderdale and a win at X Games and Tanner Foust won the second championship round at Daytona.

"We had a great year" - Ken Block proud of 2015 despite missing title

For the majority of the year Ken Block has been the man to beat in Red Bull Global Rallycross. In the championship fight since day one, Block now heads to Las Vegas without of a chance of claiming his maiden Red Bull GRC crown after two tough double header weekends in Los Angeles and Barbados.

Just like Nelson Piquet Jr. in 2014, the championship leader's season began to unravel in LA. Despite last year's happenings, it wasn't something that played on Block's mind this year when he headed to California.
